This stream of certificates covers the areas of arts, entertainment and graphic design. For people wishing to start or further their careers in this field, they provide a broad and hands on introduction to a very creative career path.

Qualifications in this area can lead to careers such as: artistic directors, designers and illustrators, sound technicians and graphic pre-press tradespersons.

Printing & Graphic Arts

This qualification will provide you with practical skills and knowledge to design layouts and assemble text and graphics into page formats for printing, using computerised typesetting and image assembly. You will learn skills to manage publication development using software such as InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. Graphic Arts students will learn about typographic design applications, illustration applications,business graphics, multimedia applications, colour evaluation input/output peripherals and reproduction controls required in digital publishing. Successful completion of this qualification provides you with career opportunities to become a desktop publisher, graphic pre-press tradesperson, freelance designer or to use your publisher skills in a variety of fields. VTEC graphic arts students have the added benefit of access to e-learning, which enables flexible and self-paced training using some of the most innovative online tools available.
