Agriculture

Training in agriculture will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to assist farmers and graziers with growing crops and/or feeding and raising livestock. You will learn skills to maintain livestock feed and water supplies, carry out cropping, mating and monitoring animals during pregnancy, implementing health and pest control programs and carrying out farm maintenance.

You will also learn about first aid, effective communication, responding to emergencies and safety in the workplace. Those who go on to a Diploma of Agriculture will develop the practical skills and knowledge to plan and manage farming operations to breed and raise livestock or grow crops, implement sustainable land use strategies, manage staff and prepare and monitor budgets. Career opportunities range from farm hand or agricultural assistant to a farm manager or rural business manager.

Curtin VTEC is changing!


As of January 2011 Curtin University VTEC courses will be provided by the Government of Western Australia's new Vocational Training and Education Centre - VTEC.
